TAND Consortium Summer Update: Connecting Across Communities

It has been a busy summer for the TAND Consortium, with members travelling from Denver to Scotland to connect with the TSC community, reflect on our work, and share research with colleagues from around the world.

The summer started in Denver, Colorado, at the TSC Alliance World TSC Conference, where members of the TAND consortium met friends and colleagues from across the international TSC community. Alongside attending sessions and sharing our work at the TAND consortium stand, the conference gave us the opportunity to meet many individuals with TSC, families, and caregivers. Hearing directly about people’s experiences helps us understand what matters to the community and continues to inform our research. We are grateful to the TSC Alliance for creating such an important space for the global TSC community to meet.

A few weeks later, the TANDem-2 Action Group travelled to Scotland and gathered near Stirling for our annual meeting to reflect on what we have achieved, discuss the work still ahead, and start thinking about where the project could go next. From there, we headed to Edinburgh for the Society for the Study of Behavioural Phenotypes (SSBP) Research Symposium, where members of the TAND consortium shared their work and learned about research on rare genetic and neurodevelopmental conditions from different perspectives.

From conversations with families in Denver to discussions around a table in Stirling and scientific exchange in Edinburgh, these gatherings provided different but complementary opportunities to listen, reflect, share and connect. We return from the summer with renewed connections, new ideas and plenty to work on in the months ahead and look forward to sharing updates and progress in the TANDem-2 project.
